[How To] Update Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 to jelly Bean 4.1.2 with Official Russian Firmware (I9070XXPLZ)

New Official Russian Firmware Upgrade (Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - I9070XXPLZ) is now available for Samsung Galaxy S advance. We got hands on it recently, and it really amazed us. The new update brings some interesting functionality and features right under your fingers.

Samsung has not released the update for other countries yet, but you can get the taste of Jelly Bean with the manual upgrade using ODIN. The update is flawless and smooth, however, I will admit there are some bugs and device lags a bit at the image Gallery. But, this is not the final Update from the Samsung and the further update will sure fix the bugs.

If you Upgrade to the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 released by Samsung you'll have following noticeable features:

1. Jelly Bean Specific features like Google Now
2. More toggles and Animations
3. Camera is now the Stock Jelly Bean with ZOOM
4. Music Player is integrated with the newer UI and Experience and the Main Key feature that is noticeable TouchwizUX

The upgrade has been successfully tested in United Kingdom Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, India, Poland, North America, Canada, Belgrade (serbia), Malaysia.

Note:  The Update is only for the Unlocked devices, with no carrier restrictions. It can only be applied on the non I9070P version. DigitFreak and DigitFreak Media Inc. is not responsible for the damage it might cause while commencing and performing the steps mentioned in the tutorial. All the tools, MOD's or ROM's described below belong to their respected owners/developers. We are just representing the method in a Pre-described and in a Better way so that you can Integrate this Update Method in your device easily. We are not forcing you to do this. This is only for education purpose.

It is advisable to Fully Charge your device before performing the update.

 

Procedure:

Step 1

BackUp files, contacts, messages, call logs and other important files and documents before performing the upgrade using Samsung Kies (Download). Samsung Kies will also fulfill all the requirements of USB drivers for further operation on the device and helps you connect your device to PC using USB cable.

 

Step 2

Turn the phone off and then press and hold Volume Up+Home+Power. The phone will go into the stock recovery. Wipe data/Factory reset and Wipe cache. Restart the phone.

 

Step 3

Enable USB Debugging mode. Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging.

 

Step 4

Download Official Russian Firmware Update from DevHost.

 

Step 5

Extract the downloaded file Using Winrar.

 

Step 6

Download ODIN3 (v3.07). Odin307.zip453.39 KB

 

Step 7

Turn off the phone, press and hold Volume down+Home+Power button until you get the Download mode. (Press the Volume Up to continue) and then connect it to your computer via USB. (wait until Odin detects you device).

 

Step 8

In Odin put the extracted firmware under PDA and click on Start..

After Few minutes ODIN will indicate that the upgrade has been successfully, indicated by the green box  "PASS". Wait until your device finishes and restarts itself (Your device will boot several times, during the upgrade process).

Note: Some People noticed that device is bit laggy and network reception is jiggery at some times after the upgrade. It is advisable to do the factory reset again as mentioned in Step 2, before using the device again.

Congratulations! you have successfully upgraded your Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 to Android Jelly Bean v4.1.2.
